Durell Vineyard

The Durell Vineyard is acclaimed as one of the top vineyards in Sonoma County, and for good reason. Nestled in Sonoma valley’s southwesterly hills, the vineyard spans three unique appellations – Carneros, Sonoma Coast and Sonoma Valley – and benefits from characteristics of each. The cooling breezes from the San Pablo bay, the rolling coastal fog and the warm Sonoma Valley temperatures ensure peak ripeness while maintaining vibrant acidity levels.

The portion of Durell Vineyard from which we receive Chardonnay is owned by Bill Price, who purchased the property in 1997 and has committed to growing exceptional quality grapes for small-lot wines ever since. This fruit comes from the “Sand Hill” portion of Durell Vineyard, whose sandy soils and hillside aspect translate to one of the most mineral, saline site signatures of our vineyard-designated Chardonnays.

The fruit for our Durell Vineyard Syrah grows on a southeast-facing hillside parcel owned by avid equestrian and fine wine-lover Ellie Phipps Price. There, the vines grow on a slope protected from the coastal winds, which leads to a seductive, full-bodied and silky smooth mouth-feel.
