"So you can imagine how excited I was when I visited Ram’s Gate recently to taste the early efforts of its new winemaker, Joe Nielsen, who joined last June. When I arrived, he poured me a glass of Pinot Blanc — and was chagrined to realize he’d poured me a 2017 by accident, a vintage he hadn’t made. The wine was downright sweet, like a cloying, inexpensive Moscato.
